 About Us
A Brief History

CharityUniversity was created by the staff and volunteers of CharityChannel following the 2004 CharityChannel Summit at Disneyland Resorts in Southern California.

It was a visionary response to the conviction that even a well-attended conference can reach only a fraction of the CharityChannel nonprofit professional community with its educational sessions.

Beginning with many of the presenters from the Summits who offered to use their Summit presentations as the subjects for the first classes, we launched CharityUniversity in October 2004.

CharityUniversity was housed on the CharityChannel web site until October, 2006, when it was given its new home here. It is still a vital part of the CharityChannel professional community, but it is also a portal for many other organizations who collaborate to produce classes and provide them to their constituents. Clearly, if CharityUniversity was to continue to grow, it needed its own home!

Not Just Another Pretty Face!

This is more than just another web platform. The CharityUniversity web site was created as part of the state-of-the-art CharityChannel Framework™, an system for producing advanced, easy-to-use web portals that serve the nonprofit professional community worldwide. It will enable CharityUniversity to rapidly expand and adapt to the needs of the many organizations who have joined the CharityUniversity Network. The CharityChannel web site itself is expected to re-launch on the CharityChannel Framework in January, 2007.

Welcome to CharityUniversity
Welcome!

Welcome to the CharityUniversity Network™,  a highly popular and rapidly-growing project of CharityChannel.

All classes are taught by the nonprofit sector's top experts, selected because they have distinguished themselves for their real-world expertise and track record of results in their respective fields.

Both Live Teleclasses and On-Demand Recorded Classes

Classes are not simply taught once and forgotten. Rather, each live teleclass is recorded. So, if a teleclass has already been held on a topic you need, you can still hear it by downloading the class audio and original materials. On this new system, you simply select the teleclass or on-demand classes of your choice, add them to your cart, pay by credit card, and download the class materials immediately after submitting your payment.

Either Way, You Download the Same Class Materials. Whether you sign up for an upcoming live teleclass or a recorded on-demand class, or a mix of both types, each class download will include the class materials such as slides and/or outline.

Live Teleclasses. For upcoming live teleclasses, the download will also provide you with details for dialing in to the teleclass, such as the phone number and class passcode for joining the conference call. In the US and Canada, the phone call is via a toll-free number. Colleagues outside the US and Canada may participate fully in the class, but the phone call will incur normal international rates.

On-Demand Classes. If you sign up for an On-Demand class, your download will include the class audio file or class player. We use industry-standard audio delivery that ensure your ability to play the audio. Though you probably won't need it, we also provide full priority support via our Live Support system, should you need our help.
